PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Laboratory freezers are devices that create a stable low temperature with minimal fluctuations, which makes them ideal for long-term storage of biological samples, medicines, vaccines, etc. In industry, freezers are used to test electronic components, rubber seals, and devices.
Medical freezers are divided into groups according to the depth of cooling:
Freezers down to -150 °C are laboratory models for ultra-low cooling. During long-term storage of a number of sensitive samples (such as cattle semen, materials for experiments on superconductivity), it is important to freeze amorphous crystals of the liquid contained in the sample. These crystals are smaller in diameter than the smallest components of the cell – from 4000 to 7000 A. And in the future it is important to avoid recrystallization to larger hexagonal crystals (destroying the sample). The recrystallization temperature for different liquids averages from -115 to -130 ºС. Thus, the content of samples at -152 ºС, much lower than their recrystallization temperature, using special cryoprotectors, allows storing many materials for an almost unlimited time without losing their properties. This is a good alternative to cryopreservation in liquid nitrogen (liquid nitrogen vapor), as it does not require consumables;
Medical freezers up to -86 °C – these freezers are mainly used for long-term storage of samples of nucleic acids, tissues, cells;
Low-temperature freezers up to -30…-40 °С — freezers for storing blood plasma, vaccines;
Freezers down to -20 ºС are low-temperature freezers for daily use in laboratories for storing frequently used samples, reagents that are undemanding to the depth of cooling.
Freezers of the -86 °C group are presented in a wide range of volumes – from 15 to 949 liters, in vertical and horizontal versions. There are models with a dual cooling circuit that provide maximum sample safety (thanks to the simultaneous operation of two independent compressors, each of which can work independently if the second compressor fails, maintaining the temperature).
There are small models that can be placed under the table (built-in), for individual use and portable. In order to ensure the safety of materials during a power outage for freezers down to -86 ° C, there are special backup temperature maintenance systems on liquid nitrogen that are able to maintain a temperature of -86 ° C for about 24 hours (depending on the size of the freezer).
To control the operation, freezers can be equipped with alarms, optionally with temperature recorders. If you need remote continuous monitoring, you can install loggers and / or systems for collecting, transmitting, documenting data, warning systems for equipment failures.
For optimal use of the freezer space, it is recommended to use special storage systems. It is also advisable to use special plastic (test tubes, racks) that can withstand low temperatures. For controlled cooling, it is also convenient to use special stands for cryofreezing, which provide a gradual decrease in temperature at a rate of 1 °C per minute, thereby protecting cells from temperature shock, which increases cell survival after thawing. The BioCision racks are of particular interest because, unlike other models, they do not use isopropanol.
